The principal theme of the special edition is:

' The Entrepreneurial Development of Small Family Firms '

The aim is to draw from papers from the growing conceptual and theoretical research embracing small family business entrepreneurship. An illustrative list of suggested topics include, but is not limited to, the following :

 

-Capital Structures and Financial Development of Small Family Firms

-Ethnic Family Business Entrepreneurship

- Family Enterprise Support Systems (i.e. the role of fiscal policy; educational

programmes, small family business clubs etc.

- Gender Issues in the Family Firm

- Management Development Initiatives in Smaller Family Firms

(e.g. human resource management, conflict management,

share ownership schemes, ‘professional’ management,

stakeholder management, training)

- New Elements in Family Business Dynamics (e.g. international networks

and culture; ethics)

- New Technologies: Their Impact in Family Firms

- Strategic Management in Family Firms (i.e. fast-growth,

internationalisation, turn-round, exit strategies)

- Succession Planning (e.g. on the management , ownership & leadership side )

JSBED welcomes papers from a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. Validity and reliability are the principal criteria. Both qualitative and quantitative data analyses using robust methodological designs are particularly encouraged. We also welcome the submission of case studies, exemplars of best practice and book reviews relevant to this topic.

Authors are requested to follow the notes to contributors (see a copy of the Journal or consult Editors)

Submissions must be received by 15TH NOVEMBER , 2000.

Anticipated Publication Date: Summer 2001.
